What is the safety/reliability of an Eagle Talon? My sister is going on a road trip from California to Washington in a Talon and I was just wondering the safety of this trip!
One of the problems which occurs on Talons and Mitsubishi vehicles of this vintage is the capacitors in the ECU leak and destroy the ECU. If the car ever cranks over but won't start, take the ECU out of the car and remove the covers. Check for leakage and burn marks on the circuit board. the safety is not an issue. It is reliability. make sure the timing belt has been changed at some recent time, and make sure the fuel, air and oil filters have been changed. have a tune up with new plugs, make sure the tires are in good condition, make sure the lights all work, make sure the exhaust is not falling apart,
