This seems to be happening for any detailed log viewer when I close it.
Also got error in gdi.exe.

I believe I updated the mdac drivers while trying OP 2. As far as video drivers are concerned, I would not know exactly how to update them as the company, STB, no longer exists. I could try a Nvdia driver or try True color 16 bit instead of 32 bit.
Any other way to fix this problem? I have let OP build a new database, no change.
Minoka,
Another thing you might want to try - delete your swap file (in DOS mode) - the system will re-create it on next boot.
I can't remember where I saw this, but it was some tech guru's response to a BSOD and GPF issue. Sometimes the swap file can become corrupt. In my case, it solved all problems.
At the very least, it will do absolutely no harm.
Hi
This may help with your STB driver questions.

The problems with obsolete vidio cards will just get worse.

minoka,
You have mail. :) After installing please reproduce the problem and send the logs to Petr. If you need assistance in sending the logs let me know and I will provide instructions.
If your video card is based on an Nvidia chip then visiting their site for the latest drivers is definitely a good idea. They should support anything from a TNT2 onwards (check the readme file for specifics).
For anyone wondering how a video driver can be of any significance here, one of the early issues of PC Pro magazine had a complaint about how Microsoft Access kept crashing with macros - it turned out to be a faulty (Nvidia) graphics driver. Since Outpost's log uses the Access engine and the DIBENG.DLL handles Device Independent Bitmaps, this could be something similar.
I do have the mdac stuff, higher than 2.5 and I do need more than an upgrade, I need a new computer.
Rikos, I erase my swap file fairly regularly via dos, haven't done it in a week or so.
Will do that right now.
Meanwhile I have set op not to show the icon toolbars in main window and log viewer as well.
Thanks to all.
It appears I have the latest drivers for this stb card. I found something called "detonator" at nvidia's and am now downloading version 45.23.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_45.23.html
Should I install it, what is a detonator?
All right then, I'll do my best, but my computer guru, i.e., my son, no longer lives with us (:
I may later need more help with this driver problem.
Meanwhile I have gone to true color 16 bit. I'll try that first.
Thanks for the help.
Perhaps this bit of info should go into the FAQ?
Could you let me know the name and date of a file belonging to MDAC so I can check if I have it on my system? The download is over 7MB!
Minoka,
Sorry, can't help with an MDAC filename - perhaps someone running Windows 98 could chip in here...
Yes, please let me have the instructions for using the debug prog. I forget.
Meanwhile I know the error is reproduceable. See my last post under the thread on Flash Content
http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9538&perpage=15&pagenumber=3
Thanks in advance.
The exe to install the debug plugin failed to:
install the "uninstall" reg key in the registry
install feedback.exe
on my system win98se.
The log viewer should show what category you have selected in the left-hand pane (Active Content in this case). What is selected in the main window is not considered - though if you needed to see Flash or Cookies only, you could create a filter for it.
With regard to the GPF, I cannot replicate it on Win2K but would suggest that you try updating your MDAC drivers (links here (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7221)) before reporting this to Agnitum. Since the errors appear to be graphics-related, checking your video card drivers may be a good idea too.
