Lycoris Desktop/LX Update 2 is a familiar, powerful and open alternative to Windows®. Put the power back into your hands with this new, affordable operating system.

Hi Mark. I can't check this out now and you said in another thread you needed something to play with while we wait for version 2.

Of course, anybody else can try also. I would like to know how easy it is. I know nothing of Linux. ;)

  • root,

Unfortunately, I don't have experience of Linux distributions but Lycoris Desktop/LX is the best looking one I've seen so far and the price is right. Looks like a better option when compared to LindowsOS. I like the way Lycoris have tried to emulate the user-friendly Windows XP GUI.

Maybe some other board member will be able to give you a more enlightened opinion.

    Regards,

  • I'm thinking as soon as my wife finishes this class she's in, Desktop/LX is going to become my operating system.
Now I'll have to get Agnitum to modify Outpost to work with Lycoris. Could be a problem.

I'll probably run a dual boot for a while.

  • A dual boot system is probably the best option. That's the way I'd do it. For some time now, I've also been thinking of getting my feet wet with Linux , but it'll have to wait until I have plenty of time on my hands. Desktop/LX looks like a good distribution to try. Let us know how things go when you finally take the plunge. I wonder if South Africans are able to purchase the product online.
