I am searching for websites similar to
http://www.literacycenter.net/lessonview_fr.htm
to learn letters, numbers, colors etc in ITALIAN (instead of in
English, Spanish, German, French.)
Great thanks, joeesq-ga, http://www.byki.com/ is a great tool!
I like most http://www.rosettastone.com, but that costs a fortune
(close to 200 Dollars per CD). I think I was not precise enough in my
original answer, but I want it for my 3-year old son, whom we bring up
bilingually. However, the input he gets in Italian (from me) amounts
to only 5 percent of the total (since I am at work all day), so I am
looking for a tool with lots of pictures, little text (since he cannot
read yet), and in particular sounds. What is great about
http://www.rosettastone.com is that there is always a voice saying a
word or reading a phrase and then there are four pictures to click on,
so my son perceives it as a game and learns new vocabulary along the
way. The Literary Center
http://www.literacycenter.net/lessonview_en.htm is essentially the
freeware (online) equivalent to Rosetta Stone for kids, but
unfortunately, it is not available in Italian ...
Here are some sites I came across in a similar effort. They may help.
http://www.ielanguages.com/italian.html

And there is a free program available at cnet called - before you know
it lite version 3.5. that is most similar to the site you described.
It is a freeware program where you can study flash cars, it will read
all the words to you and test you. It does a though job. Go to
download.com and search for "Before you know it Italian" within the
SOFTWARE category. It will be the only download that pops up. They
also have their own website - http://www.byki.com/ you may be able to
download from there also. I have used the program for colors and
enjoyed it. LearnItalianPod.com - Learn to Speak Italian with Podcasts:: Learn Italian with LearnItalianPod!
