Hi all,
Found a decent fare for a Columbus Day trip to visit some old friends of mine, and was wondering whether I could squeeze any more miles out of it. I normally fly NWA, and I can usually get an extra thousand miles or more, by shoving in a short hop connecting city. For example, I recently did LAX-MEM-CVG-DTW-LGA,LGA-DTW-BNA-MEM-LAX for only about $5 more than it would have cost to do a more direct routing.
Found a $215 fare from LAX-DCA as follows:

Expedia and NWA.com now have a $208 NW fare, WAS-LAX. Just booked a (non-MR) flight for July that I've been needing.
1-day minimum stay, so it should support a no-hotel run catching the 12:45 a.m. LAX-MSP or the 2:05 a.m. LAX-DTW flight, and it can be routed via ATL for more mileage.

Have you checked the allowable routing on this fare?
Might be moot -- price just shot up to $481.50 -- that was pretty quick of CO to take down that price (or the fare category was exhausted?).

Columbus Day weekend is definitely available on this fare, although you'll have to turn to one of the resident experts for MR routing help, as I'm not having any luck that weekend.

No 4th of July blackout dates on the $208 fare. There is availability for outbound flights from both DCA and IAD throughout the weekend. While Expedia shows 7/7 returns as sold-out, nwa.com does not. Interestingly, I can price a return via SDF on 7/6 for $208, but can only get a $244 fare on a more direct routing for that day.
