Intake manifold gasket leaks and bad wheel bearings usually in the rear.
I used have a 1993 eclipse and then a 1998 eclipse gsx. Didn't really have any problems with either. I did with my 1999 but that's because I did alot of work (performance and suspension) to it. I suggest to take yours to a good mechanic and have them look at it and see if there is anything wrong with it now, and possibly what might happen down the road. Every car can go to bad if it's not properly taken care of. for sale - tribe.net::

I have a 1990 Plymouth Laser which is the same car, only older. It is made by Mitsubishi but has the Plymouth name on it. I LOVE this car! When I bought it, people warned me, but it now has over 150,000 miles and it has been excellent. From what I understand, they typically have oil leaks. Mine does not. Also there was a timing chain recall (but probably NOT for the 1996 model..) Also the turbos would go (yours may or may not have a turbo) but mine hasn't broken. I have not had to fix anything mentioned by the previous poster. It has been a dependable car that hasn't needed many repairs. I wish you lots of fun with yours and be happy! If it's anything like mine, you've got yourself a great car!!
