I have a host operating system of windows vista business 64 bit with 4g ram and an intel centrino 2 duo core a T9400. So i tried running Linux Fedora 9 x86_64 through virtual box but it says my cpu is an i686 and is not compatible. But intel centrino 2 should be 64 capable. Why isnt this working? It is quite correct. The virtual CPU you were trying to run Fedora 9 on *is* an i686 and is not compatible. You were not installing Fedora on your physical CPU but on the virtual CPU that virtualbox creates.

Only VMWare,VirtualPC support 64-bit guest OS's at this time. VirtualPC is at least free from Microsoft.
