Yes, owning a Nissan Skyline is legal in the U.S. Although you can no longer import them, Motorex, the only R.I. (registered importer) ever approved by the DOT (Department of Transportation) has now closed, some speculate due to criminal activity on part of the owner of the company. Crashtesting was done only to the R33 generation of Skylines, originally the DOT was not aware of this fact and allowed all generations, now, the R33 will be the only generation allowed for import, assuming someone can come up with an appropriate legalization idea. When Motorex closed, all Skylines that were held on a bond from the DOT were relased, but until a new R.I. steps up, no more R32-34 Skylines can be legally imported.
