I really want to go for the best forum around and clearly VB seems to be that.... but I need to convert all members/post's from my current forum (2K members) which is Invision Power Board v1.1.2. IS this doable?
Also is the version on you are using now the one I will get? and how easy is it to edit the disply colours?

Weve had a few problems with our provider (you can read about it in the importers discussion) I honestly cannot say when because i really dont know, (they dont tell me much ;)) but the best i can give you is soon
Impex is a separate tool you can download and use with vBulletin.
We don't have an official import service but our support team are always on hand to help should you run in to difficulties.

If you cannot wait, you can always upgrade from IPB1.1.2 to vB2, then upgrade to vB3 but i would not recommend it unless you know exactly what you are doing.

I may wait for the update... however I noticed a post done a while back and someone stated the importers would be available that week. How long do you think it will take?

ImpEx is free for our customers, including support. At this time we don't offer an import service though.
the vB3 importers are just around the corner, they will import your data from IBP 1.2 to vB3
If you cannot wait for them you can import from 1.2 to 2.3.5 and upgrade to vB3

vBulletin is indexed fine by search engines, but it doesn't have the "nice url's" that are commonly associated with SEO.
Have a look at www.vbulletin.org, where there are also various third-party portal addons.
