Hi-
I was checking my account today and saw that there was an apparent change in the way discounts are handled- instead of e-certs, they are now discount codes. Below is the "regs" on them, are there any major changes with this, besides just the name.
About Discount Codes (http://www.alaskaair.com/www2/promo/AboutECerts.asp)
Discount Codes (previously e-Certificates) are special price reductions that you can redeem with certain ticket purchases at alaskaair.com, horizonair.com and EasyBiz. Discount Codes might be included in your e-Newsletters, Mileage Plan correspondence, direct mail, local newspaper advertisements, or via other promotional partners. 10% Discount E-Cert-Valid for Travel Sept 14-Dec 15, 2007, Seattle only :: Cannot be applied to previously ticketed purchases. tried to save the code in my account my e-certificates area and got the following on screen: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=702791HOME |
Using Your Discount Code
* Itineraries with Discount Codes applied cannot be held. You can return and apply a Discount Code to a reservation after holding.
* Discount Codes can only be redeemed for airfare purchases at alaskaair.com, horizonair.com and EasyBiz for electronic tickets with a maximum of eight segments.
* Discount Codes cannot be used when shopping for Multi-City itineraries, or for Award Reservations.
* Discount Codes are not the same as Alaska Airlines Vacations promo codes. Alaska Airlines Vacations promo codes cannot be used as Discount Codes, and vice versa.
* Paper Alaska Airlines Platinum Credit Card Companion Certificates can be redeemed on alaskaair.com by first calling Reservations at 800-252-7522 to obtain a Discount Code.
* Discount Codes apply to original purchases only, and cannot be applied towards ticket exchanges. Tickets originally issued using a Discount Code are not eligible to be exchanged online.
* Discount Code reductions may not apply to all flights; itineraries consist of point-to-point and through fares which are used to construct total price.
Thanks
Thanks. So we may not be able to use the $50 companion cert on multi-city itineraries anymore.
Edited to add: Maybe we can still do it if we book over the phone?
Thanks. So we may not be able to use the $50 companion cert on multi-city itineraries anymore.Well it does say..."Discount Codes cannot be used when shopping for Multi-City itineraries" [emphasis mine]Perhaps the current system (shop, hold, apply discount, and purchase) will still work.
I just got this in my email:
You may have noticed we recently made a change on alaskaair.com rewording the terminology of the "e-Certificate" to "Discount Code." This change prepares way for the new Gift Certificate functionality coming to alaskaair.com ... in time for the holidays. So, stay tuned, for more Discount Codes, as well as the unveiling of the upcoming Gift Certificate program.
Exciting! soon, I may be able to ask for "AS Gift Certificates" for Christmas! The only question is, do we get double miles for the purchase of them with an AS Visa?
