What is the date of the shoe designer, Andre Perugia's death? He died in 1977, but I need to know the actual date of his death (month and day)

  • Just a quick question. How can you rate an answer with 3 stars when you have stated that you consider the question answered or as good as it can be answered? I'm interested to know as I have seen questioners mention that the answer was excellent on a few questions and then only give three stars. I am just wondering why. usrhlp

  • That detail was very helpful and has narrowed down the search considerably. I consider that the question has been answered, as much as it is likely to be answered.

  • I can, alas, not answer your question since I did not find the exact date anywhere yet. All I found out is that Andr Perugia died in November 1977 in Cannes, France. Maybe one of my colleagues will be more successful. Scriptor

  • Dear cakmar02, Thank you very much. I appreciate your generosity. Best regards, Scriptor

  • The problem is that there is no scale for rating a question. Some questioners will only give 4 or 5 stars only if they are wowwed by the answer and 3 stars to a typical correct answer. While other questioners will give 4 or 5 stars to any correct answer and 3 or less stars to a "sub-par" answer. It's all relative but unfortunately it's not consistant and hurts the researchers in the process. Although I doubt Scriptor-ga's rating wil be affected at all since he has many stellar answers and ratings.

  • It is possible that you have found information on the correct individual. Can you provide me with your source for confirmation?

  • Yes, I can. The month of Andr Perugia's death is mentioned in the article "The World at his Feet; Patrick Cox's new Position at Charles Jourdan allows him to look back and step forward - all at the same time", published on 28 July 2003 in "Footwear News". In that article (unfortunately only available through fee-based subscription), the following is said: "When Perugia passed away in November 1977, he bequeathed his extensive footwear collection to Charles Jourdan. Perugia is obviously one of Cox's favorite shoe designers." The fact that famous shoe designer Andr Perugia died in Cannes is mentioned in "Dictionnaire Historique et Biographique du Comt de Nice", Fiche N 834: "PERUGIA Andr (Nice, 1893 - Cannes, 1977) Andr P rugia, fils d'un bottier d'origine toscane, est un des grands cr ateurs de chaussures de l'entre-deux-guerres." Will this be useful? Please let me know.
