Hi All
Picked up a triathlon bike cheap on ebay and want to convert it to a road bike. I know i need shifters and a handlebar, anything else? Is there specifics like gear speeds and cable lengths that i have to consider? How about installation? Difficult?
All suggesstions welcome!

a lot depends on the bike. some tri bikes are built to be time trialing bikes and some of them are not legal to use in road races, or the frame angles are so extreme they dont make a very comfy day to day bike.
as for the shifters, the bar ends most tri bikes use will work. you just put the in the ends of conventional drop bars. a lot of touring bikes used to use bar end shifters back when down tube shifters were it. tt bikes also tend to use smaller cogsets than roadbikes, but again all it takes is buying a new cogset. i like running a 11-25 set.
you may also end up changing stems if the position on it is too far off. typically you ride with it much lower for tt than you would for road racing, so you may end up inverting or even replacing the stem so you are comfy. comfy is important when you ride long distances or race.
