find that cater to the Japanese tourist market that offer tours that
spend at least one night in the Phoenix, AZ. While the contact
information is the most important, a 5 star answer will also provide
some information about how many Japanese tourists visit Phoenix each
year. I know that the Grand Canyon is a very popular destination for
the Japanese tourist and that a lot of Japanese tourist traffic flows
through Sky Harbor Airport, but having some market stats would be

My research shows that Japanese tourism has suffered greatly in the
past few years and is just beginning to rebound from the scares caused
by 911, SARS and the Iraq war. The industry reports I?ve collected
will give you specific information about this. My research also shows
that Japanese tourism to the continental US has not progressed very
far from New York and the West coast golden triangle of Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Las Vegas. Promoting nature oriented tourism to the

For the past five to six years, Arizona has become a key destination
in the U.S. Mainland for the Japanese who seek ?nature? and ?soft
adventures?. The tour products to our region are definitely in many of
the tour catalogs in Japan. There is no question that our destination
products are on the shelves and they are available to the consumers.
In 2003, the declining trend continued due to SARS and the Iraq War,
however, it is now in recovery mode and already looking up in 2004.
According to TIA, the Japanese market has hit the bottom and is now in
the process of recovery. For the first three months of 2004, the
Japanese market was showing very healthy recovery. The total number of
arrivals of the first quarter from Japan showed a 17 percent increase
from the first quarter of 2003.
