I am seeking contact information for as many tour operators as you can find that cater to the Japanese tourist market that offer tours that spend at least one night in the Phoenix, AZ. While the contact information is the most important, a 5 star answer will also provide some information about how many Japanese tourists visit Phoenix each year. I know that the Grand Canyon is a very popular destination for the Japanese tourist and that a lot of Japanese tourist traffic flows through Sky Harbor Airport, but having some market stats would be great.

  • Well done. A good and fast job.

  • Hello again kingway-ga, Thank you very much for the clarification and your confidence in the Google Answers researchers. It helps to know the context of your question. I think the information I?ve collected will give you a good overview of the extent of Japanese tourism in Phoenix and the additional links to tour operator resources should give you a starting point for continuing your research. My research shows that Japanese tourism has suffered greatly in the past few years and is just beginning to rebound from the scares caused by 911, SARS and the Iraq war. The industry reports I?ve collected will give you specific information about this. My research also shows that Japanese tourism to the continental US has not progressed very far from New York and the West coast golden triangle of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas. Promoting nature oriented tourism to the Japanese is a fairly recent phenomenon. The information from the Arizona Office of Tourism will be very helpful to give you a good understanding of current trends. As I mentioned in my clarification request, I haven?t been able to find specific travel agencies or tour operators that include trips to Phoenix. Nevertheless, the links I?ve included from tour operators and civic organizations should give you a starting point if you want to research this on your own. I think it also might be worthwhile to contact the major hotels or resorts where Japanese tour groups might spend the night to ask them if they can put you in contact with the tour operators. I hope that the information I?ve found will help you gauge the likely success of a Japanese karaoke offering in Phoenix. I wish you well for your enterprise. ~ czh ~ =========================== JAPANESE TOURISM IN ARIZONA =========================== http://www.azot.com/travel/markets/2004%20Japan%20Market%20Update.doc The Japanese Market, Leisure Travel Market Update 2004 Prepared by: Osamu Hoshino, Japan Market Representative for Arizona Office of Tourism, July 1, 2004 For the past five to six years, Arizona has become a key destination in the U.S. Mainland for the Japanese who seek ?nature? and ?soft adventures?. The tour products to our region are definitely in many of the tour catalogs in Japan. There is no question that our destination products are on the shelves and they are available to the consumers. In 2003, the declining trend continued due to SARS and the Iraq War, however, it is now in recovery mode and already looking up in 2004. According to TIA, the Japanese market has hit the bottom and is now in the process of recovery. For the first three months of 2004, the Japanese market was showing very healthy recovery. The total number of arrivals of the first quarter from Japan showed a 17 percent increase from the first quarter of 2003. ***** This is a 17-page report that gives a comprehensive overview of Japanese tourism to Arizona. It provides lots of statistics and information about Japanese tourism trends and strategies for attracting Japanese tourists. ------------------------------------------------- http://www.azot.com/research/researchdocs.asp?catid=9 AZ International Visitation http://www.azot.com/research/data/Overseas%20visitors%20to%20phoenix%202003.pdf 2003 Overseas Visitors to Phoenix http://www.azot.com/research/data/japan.pdf 2003 Japan Visitor Profile http://www.azot.com/travel/foreignreps.asp Travel Industry Marketing ?
