Hi everyone -
I just wanted to share my first real Flash game. I've been using some tutorials on this site and others, and I've put together a fun little tile-based game.
If you find any bugs or other weirdness, let me know. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions about how anything was done.
Thanks!

cool, i was wondering did you code the hitTest by hitTesting the actual shape of the stage against positions of the enemies and the main character? oo and what did u use for the high scores? php and mySQL?
Thanks for the comments guys!
I didn't use hitTest because I heard it is a little slow. But it was a little complicated because the characters are bigger than 1 tile. So I have a function to check the corners plus the middle of whatever edge that is in the direction he's running. So in essence there are 6 points to check (the corners plus the middle of each long side). I don't know if that makes any sense. High scores are kept in a MySQL database, and I use PHP to communicate between Flash and the database. That was probably the most frustrating part of the programming, and the functions I had to use require flash 6 (the game part itself is compatiable with 5).
And the comment about the up arrow used to jump - I know some people like that, but it's just not my preference. I do think it would be great to let players use either to jump, or at least pick one up front.
Again, thanks for checking it out, and I'll let you all know when I've got a 2.0 version ready to play! I'm thinking of adding all kinds of goodies like firepower, moving platforms, smarter enemies, sounds, all the good stuff.
Neat game! I only wish the the up arrow was the jump button rather than the spacebar.
Great job!
