Published by: anonym 2010-03-15
Welcome to:nnkl.com

  • I am looking for a program similar to AdSubtract-Pro the reason I don't wanna stay with Adsubtract because it uses a proxy server and OP askes me everytime my pc boots up Proxy Server disable connection, would you like to disable proxy server. and it keeps going and going everytime i boot up.
    I'll do a screenshot.

I want the program to be able to

Catch Ad Cookies like Adsubtractpro does
and Filter Popups or block popups windows.

  • Cookie wall will do the trick
    http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/cookie.htm
    Adshield may also help you
    http://www.adshield.org/

    Both are free

  • I got it

I am configuring the websites that I want the Popups to appear
But I still need something that catches all the Ad Cookies
    Something that Filters Cookies.

    Hola, Rob-

    I use CookieCop 2.x from PCMag http://www.pcmag.com/utilities/

It allows you to filter cookies and even has a feature to convert cookies to "session only," and handles popups, java cookies, banners, etc, as well.

It may be what you're looking for. Hope this helps!

    Adios,

    Ricardo

  • havent tried it yet.

  • Outpost doesn't has the Popup plug-in...!

I am using the Ad blocking

But I am not looking for a program to block ad.

Something that filters cookies ! & popups

  • Try one of those I mentioned - AdsGone (http://www.adsgone.com). It's apparently particularly good at blocking pop-ups. This is taken directly from their website:

"Works with any browser and AOL - works best with Internet Explorer.
Kills unwanted popup ads before they open.
Smart enough to allow popup windows to open that you want opened.
    Blocks banner ads.
Configure sites to block and allow.
Play different sounds when ads are blocked.
Blocks ad companies from tracking you (cookies).
Runs in the system Tray (no desktop clutter).
Get faster internet connection browsing speed.
Does not act as a proxy server.
    Reduce company bandwidth costs.
Unconditional Money Back Guarantee if you decide to buy."

.... But why don't you just use the Outpost Active Content plug-in to filter pop-ups and cookies!? It has default settings (which you can change) and you can define specific settings for individual sites as well.

  • :) :D

Outpost is great... I am using the Popup Disable in all the websites, except for the ones I allow Popup, I had to add the websites, I went to porno sites and it did block it.

    Good Job OP! # 1

    :p ;)

I only need now something that filter cookies

  • Oh yes it does, I found it
Let me see how it works.

  • If you're using Win XP, you can use Tweak-XP http://www.totalidea.de/framesetproducts.htm to block pop-ups and ads in IE 6 and clean out your IE cookie file along with a lot of other good options for XP.

A good program for IE 6 privacy, security and cookie management is IEClean 6 http://www.nsclean.com/ieclean.html. it's also good for using an e-mail alias while surfing.:)

  • You don't mention the operating system you are using. However, you could try WebWasher (free for home use). It has all the options you are looking for. Download from http://www.webwasher.com. Be sure to download version 3.2 beta, which allows simple (non-proxy) configuration of all browsers. If you use Windows XP, however, only the proxy mode will work.

Another worth trying is FilterGate ($35), which can be found at http://www.filtergate.com. Also has proxy-free configuration, but I don't know whether it works with Win XP.

Another option is AdsGone ($19) at http://www.adsgone.com. Works with Win XP as well. Also AdPurger ($13 - Internet Explorer only - http://www.adpurger.com) and Ad Muncher ($15 - http://www.admuncher.com).

BTW, have you enabled the local loopback rule in Outpost?

    Mark

  • i use filtergate for banner and popup blocking.
i have previously tried 21 different products and finally found out that this one.: filtergate was the best of all..
    try it :D

  • still looking for a cookie-filter
    anyone knows?

  • Again, why don't you just disable cookies globally in the Outpost Active Content plug-in? This will prevent cookies from been sent from your computer back to websites. Surely that is adequate? You can always clear out the incoming cookies manually.

  • Is Cookie Pal by Kookabura Software. This is 30 day trial shareware and the license is $15.

    Take a look at http://www.kburra.com.

    Definitely worth trying.

    Paul

  • did they work 4 you?

  • manually takes too long :(
if i disable cookies in op the pages will be bad.

there's gotta be something out there that filters cookies.
so that i can see when i had adsubtractpro instead of going manually and remove the ad cookies "red", you go to adsubtract and they are all there the good cookies etc.

  • a note regarding outpost's included "ads" and "active content" plugins:

unfortunately, i've found they don't work as well as various 3rd-party options out there. for blocking popups, i've had to continually update the active content list because it blocks friendly popups. other popup blockers out there are simply "smarter" in discriminating between malicious and non-malicious popups.

ive also found that some webpages won't function properly with the ads plugin active.

these plugins seem to have been left in the proof-of-concept stage, and aren't being actively developed.

to stop popups and banner ads, i'm currently testing adsgone. i can't recommend it firmly because i'm still testing it, but it is one of only a handful of apps that blocks both, and it's working well so far.

prior to adsgone, i tested ad muncher, but by the author's own admission, there is apparently a known incompatibility with ad muncher and outpost.

i would love to be able to use outpost's included plugins, but they simply aren't competitive at this point in my opinion. i also don't consider it that big of a deal though because neither of the plugins discussed are firewall functions to begin with, and i don't judge outpost by whether they work or not.

  • Thanks

  • I dont need Adblocker, That's what I have Outpost for.

    All I need

is something that filters cookies & popups that's all,

in adsubtractpro it use to filter cookies and all those cookies that were saved in my computer that were advertised cookies, i use to remove directly with AdSubtract-Pro.
Then I use to add sites where I didnt want the popups to be blocked, then so on and so on.

  • yes, i've heard filtergate is good too.

for those that are curious, these are the following 3rd-party apps i've found that provide blocking of both popups and banner ads:

    - ad muncher [note: currently incompatible with outpost]
    http://www.admuncher.com/
    - adsgone
    http://www.adsgone.com/
    - adsubtract pro
    http://www.adsubtract.com/pro/features.html
    - filtergate
    http://www.nomoreads.com/
    - adpurger
    http://www.adpurger.com/
    - wincognito pop up blocker
    http://www.wincognito.com/products/popup_blocker.asp

in fairness, i've also recently discovered that an ad block list is available for outpost; more info here:

    - agnis for outpost

    - (more info on agnis here)
