| | On 12/18 I used info in AA-web Gates & Times to track flight AA142 JFK=>LHR at 8:30am, because my daughter was on the flight (that left about 1.5 hr late) and I was afraid she'll miss her connection on BA.
The Real-Time Flight Tracking section looks better than the "Flight Info" section, but ended reporting 8:40pm landing at LHR, when actual landing was about 9:25pm.
So- I thought she made the connection, but she missed it.
Anybody knows the reliability of this real-time tracking? was it a 1-time screw-up or the norm?
It seems that this is actually provided via travelocity (web-addr switch to travelocity) by a company callled RLM Software.

By the way- AA-LHR has Great smooth op for missed connection: put her in the Radison next to LHR and even gave her coupon for room-service dinner (she got to hotel at 11pm).
The data provided in the text above is inputed by the pilot on the ACARS (real-time communications system), and is very reliable.
The stuff in the graphic balloon is imputed from FAA data, and its accuracy so-so domestically (although unlike the AA-provided data it does not included estimated taxi time -- it's just a guess at to the touchdown time) but usually quite off for international destinations.

This is awesome. Great to read that there are some things that AA does very well.
My experience with LHR (at least recently) is the touchdown is one thing; getting off the plane is another.
Although I typically arrive in the morning, it just seems lately that the taxis are slower and the disembarking is slower (is it just me???) My understanding of the web site is that the displayed time is the time they touched down - not the time they hit the gate.
Good to hear though it worked out.

I also find THE TRIP very reliable. I check it before I leave to the airport.
DrH.., yes it's true, sometimes it takes half an hour or more between touchdown and arriving at the gate, specially a large airports like LHR, MIA and ATL.
I've been pretty happy with the flight tracker at thetrip.com (not sure who powers it. I often use it for people we're supposed to pick up at the airport. Although I haven't used it to track international flights, and I'm not sure it hasthat capability.
