My "unverified sources" tell me that a) AC has a number of 763's (AC) parked somewhere and b) they are apparently bringing a few of them back.

My understanding is that having emerged from the CCAA creditor protection, the new Air Canada no longer owns or has any leasing rights to any parked aircraft. In fact, I believe they own no aircraft at all, and have lease arrangements only to those aircraft they are currently operating. Thus, any aircraft in the desert would be someone else's problem. If Air Canada wants to bring anything out of the desert they can choose among anything available (if they can pay for it!). The sentimental attachment to the maple leaf underneath the new paint on the tail will be pretty weak.

I agree Sebring. Change the interiors and it is a good airplane that can fly 10 or 11 hours in comfort.

Two of the 767's in Mojave are ER's, four are regulars but at least one of those is overwater equipped, the 7th is an old odd-ball exPWA airplane with a small forward cargo door.
I can't remember right now if the ER's came with bigger fuel tanks and more take-off weight or not. The ER did FRA-YVR for a time and the day that I rode it we were 10:45 block to block.

There is nothing inherently wrong with 762s that a major interior refit wouldn't solve. It's a matter of choice by AC that it configures 762s the way it does, but if it wanted to increase seat pitch, install new lavs and state of the art entertainment systems, it could. It just would be a difficult investment to justify.

Interesting comments. For the "10 - 11 hours", my guess is that would have to be the 200ER flavor.
I remember in a recent Flight International that had a summary of parked aircarfts owned by Air Canada, in that there are quite a few DC9-30, F28 (they have been returned to lessors), B747-200, B737 and a few other types that I forgot.
