it lit off down runway 16 right ahead of us on a sunny afternoon today. the 747 usually does LHR Wed-Sat but it went mechanical last Friday. It doesn't fit in the hanger in YYC and since it was so cold they couldn't fix it until it warmed up. It is probably going to Vancover and being swapped with another 747 which will do the LHR flight tonight.

When there is an aircraft downgrade they do not pay out denied boarding unless the pax cannot be accomidated in less that 3 hours. There was a mechanical 747 in YYC and YYZ...all in all not a good week for the 747
Bird 381 was at Gate 16 Sunday morning. I heard while visiting my brother Saturday am at the Airport travel lodge that AC had an issue Friday evening, and needed 100 rooms.

70 persons who were denied boarding.At $500 a pop per person,wow.The 2 later flights to LHR were wide open.
Can someone verify this for me?
There's a 744 doing YVR-YYC/YYC-YVR.
I was supposed to be on one of those flights a few weeks back, but there was a misconnection.

I saw the 744 there last Thursday afternoon - it sure does make YYC seem like a more 'international' airport.
However, it is not nice to fly in from the USA five minutes after that puppy empties out!
I have frequently seen an AC 747-400 at YYC in the past few months.

The 744 was on the ramp just sitting there all pretty like on Sunday when i came in on CMA from lloydminster in the evening, and was also there Monday night when i went to drop a friend off at WS. WHat i nice sight to see indeed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
