Another widespread severe weather event looks imminent across much of this area today with the most intense activity occurring across Central and Eastern New York (Albany) this evening. With expected CAPE's in the 2000-3000 range and LI's in the -5 to -8 range, I would expect the cold front to trigger rapid thunderstorm development by early to mid afternoon across Central New York. Lapse Rates at lower levels are expected to be near 9 degrees C (WOW) and 0-6KM shear values will be between 30-40 knots. Thus, expect rapid development of thunderstorms with possible supercells for awhile and congealment into intense bow echoes and lines. An organized linear MCS seems possible as well as favorable shear and storm motions will be west to east at 35-45mph. A prefrontal trof will be setup across the Hudson Valley (as usual) this afternoon and will tend to back the winds at low levels. Therefore, there's a chance of some isolatesd tornadic action and large hail (1.75"?) in these area also.
Should be an interesting afternoon.
