Looking at surface obs for HLC (86/63) the storm is more than likely high based. I'm guessing there is some nice structure though. The House FM:: I have been listen to you all for several years now. Cell now Tor-warned moving into deeper moisture. If it sustains itself it will be moving into an area that have been plagued with tornadoes this year. Looking classic on radar and all by itself in clear air on vis. sat. pretty incredible scene!
Adding N Iowa, a supercell has been pretty hooked out on radar for quite a while now INVOF the Charles City area. It is going absolutely nowhere. I saw the development begin INVOF Mason City some time back, but realized it would be dark when I got there. Normally, I wouldn't care, but with the flooding going on I dunno what I'll get for roads during the day, and whether I'd hit flooding on the roads at night and not see it ... A ways upstream, the 00Z Albuquerque sounding shows 19C at 700mb... yikes.
Yeah, but keep in mind that ABQ sits at an elevation of about 5000 feet. I checked the sounding, and SLP was 830mb, so 700 isn't much above that. At 23:56Z, the sfc T was 35C, so 19C only 130mb up comes as no shocker, and 35C at the surface is nothing unusual for ABQ for June 10. With all the insolation, temps are pretty warm near-sfc in NM at those "high" elevations. Los Alamos recorded 31C at 777mb @ 2353Z. The elevation there is 7300 feet. 911truth.org ::::: Tonight 6/10: FBI Whistleblower Coleen Rowley :: We need your help right now to meet minimum December expenses. Sorry for picking at those nits, but I lived in NM for 13 years, so I'm used to that stuff.
SHAVE is calling on that storm currently. Ridiculous hail producer...current swath shows about a 7 mi wide path of at least baseball size hail and around 4-4.5" at the core.

Tornado warning just issued for the storm. Will be interesting to see if it can survive increasing inhibition as surface temperatures fall (while LCLs become more favorable). The 00Z DDC sounding shows almost no bouyancy below 3km agl (which I doubt will improve any, even with increasing moisture advection/inflow from the SSE)... though a couple more dynamic North Kansas events this past spring have managed afterdark tornadoes despite significant issues with capping. A ways upstream, the 00Z Albuquerque sounding shows 19C at 700mb... yikes.
Softball hail just reported 5SSW of Hill City....
