If your going to buy an econobox thereâ ™s not much I can tell you they tend to get very good mileage. The problem with these vehicles is safety and driving pleasure. In my experience these vehicles offer little of either.
Should you go with an automatic transmission or manual? Nowadays, automatics are increasingly better at shifting than the average person, at the most opportune time. In some models automatics are actually getting better mileage than the manual version of the same car. Manual transmissions however are still lighter in weight and commonly have more gear choices. For now Iâ ™d still go with manual transmissions for better mileage and just plain fun.
The more torque your engine has the easier it is to get up to speed without effort, because when the engine doesnâ ™t have to work as hard you save gas, obviously! Thatâ ™s why a diesel gets better gas mileage than a gas engine, as much as 30 percent better.
