I'll be flying down to MIA tomorrow and want to bring my old Dell CPU to give to my parents. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to achieve this with the least number of headaches? Should I carry it on or check it in a piece of luggage? It should fit in an overhead carry-on, but what would the do in the security line?
Thanks
If you can carry it on, do it. Security should be no problem, as long as you remember one thing (assuming it's a holiday gift):
Don't gift-wrap it.
Heaven forbid security should want you to open the box (and assuming your gift-wrapping skill/coordination is as "good" as mine), that would be a terrible waste of one hour's work. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

first suggestion would be to check it, if you have a secure way to box and protect it.
If you take it though security - my guess is they will have sniffer machines - wand your cpu - and it will clear just fine. You may want to use a carry-on bag of some type just for transport.
I taking it through security - I would also take the power cord with you - worst case - they will ask you to turn it on.
