  • Hi,

Am looking for a reasonable hotel for a stopover in B.A. next March, preferably with free airport transfers. Any ides please?

  • In December 2004 we stayed in a clean, simple, delightful (because of the staff) bed and breakfast about a mile from the airport. We arrived late at night and left early in the morning and didn't feel like wasting time driving back and forth from town. A daughter-in-law of the family who owned the inn picked us up at the airport after midnight ("oh no, it is not late, I sometimes do this all night") Early n the morning someone took us back to the airport. It was an experience of true hospitality. Not the Four Seasons, but we would go there again in a similar situation. http://www.posadadelasaguilas.com.ar/

Welcome to FT. I see this is your first posting.
You did not clarify what is a stopover, how many hours and at what time you are arriving. Remember that Buenos Aires has 2 airport: EZE is about 1/2 an hour away from the Center of town and Aeroparque is in the center of town.

I am not sure if you are familiar with the site but we have a great search option. A couple of months ago we had this discussion and I think many of us recommended against staying near the airport.
We felt that even if you are here for a few hours, Buenos Aires has a thriving night life with great food, music, tango, dance and bars that it is a shame to miss.
I think you should fly in, take a US$20-25 cab or car service into town, enjoy a great dinner, have a couple of glasses of excellent wine and then leave in the morning.
I usually rent an apartment when I come to Buenos Aires but once I stayed in the Kempinsky Recoleta Hotel. They have several hotels around town and even though it is a little dated, the service is very nice and the location could not be better. Plan on spending US$100 for a nice hotel, 200 for really nice and 300 for real luxury.

  • There are really no good hotels by the EZE airport (if that's where your flight is coming into and/or leaving from).

While some hotel rates may include a free transfer to/from the hotel, most hotels in Buenos Aires do not offer such a facility on most rates.

To save some money to get from the airport to the hotel and back, there's the Manuel Tienda Leon bus/transfer option. http://www.tiendaleon.com.ar/prehome.asp?flash=S

  • Welcome to FlyerTalk, Fluff. Fortunately, we have an active Travel->Argentina forum and I'll move this Q there for further discussion. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz

Fluff-- I fully endorse the above post.

  • Hi Fluff-- welcome to FT. All the advice above is very good. Kalkat has mentiones the only feasible lodging option that is close to EZE. However, if you are up to discover the city at least for a few hours, GUWonders tip to use the bus service and get into the city is an excellent one. It seems like you should have enough time to walk around town and grab a nice meal before you head back to EZE to continue your journey.

    Cheers,
    Alex

NO worries.... you will get the hang of it in no time. Happy planning of your trip and I hope you have a great time here in EZE.
