i have been to cuba a couple of times, and it is no problem for americans, they welcome them, its a propaganda thing, you could also fly out of canada instead. when you pass through immigration they will stare right through you( its a bit like JFK ) it freaks me out every time. they have never stamped my passport, just stabled the holiday visa to the passport and remove it on departure( you have to have it on exit). i would advise that if you are asked on the street by beggars( and there are loads of them), tell them you are canadian, it will be less hassle. it is a cool place and well worth the vist. things will change when the castros are gone ForCuba.com - For American Customers Traveling to Cuba::

No they didnt stamp the passport. Im from Philippines and they didnt stamp my passport too when i get there. I saw some Americans (US) there, they just fly to Cuba from Mexico.

But, of course, that only affects us Cubans. Foreigners come and go and see only the beautiful part of our country. Many try to justify the bad conditions blaming the embargo.
That is rubbish. Things are bad because comunism does NOT WORK.

Hum, somebody says that things will change after the brothers are gone, but foreigners keep going, and going ( like the energizer bunny ) and their money helps the brothers to stay. They ARE NOT HELPING
The best is to wait until the brothers, big and small, are no longer among the living
