i know they will add tbn support, but will they make it possible play a video and capture a tbn like in xbmp.
it was a great feature, the only problem is that when it made the tbn, it generated some lame filename for it, instead of using the filename of the video. so i would have to go in the folder and rename the tbn to the filename myself, it got tedious after 50 files.
frodo, do you think you guys will implement this?

they still dont have video screenshots implemented yet do they? this would be a nice feature when they do
although a good idea, the process would take quite a long time, and with not much benefit. the problem with windows is that it gets the first frame which, atleast for movies or episodes, is either black or identical to each other video (in the example of episodes). a random one would be better, but would take even longer as it would have to seek each movie.
what i would like, would be for each time a movie is loaded the first frame (or after however many seconds that it's being played) automatically becomes the thumbnail, which can then be replaced by a button press (eg, allow the screenshot button to also make that screenshot the thumbnail without showing the osd or anything).

the time used should maybe be settable in the config or xml.

as jmarshall said, they have screenshots, however they do not act as thumbnails for videos.
is it possible? a create thumbs button in my videos section ? taking the first frame or a random one of a video and creat a thumb with it... dunno... just an idea.
is that suggestion is analyzed ? ;p
or how about an option while the video is playing to pause the video and make a thumb of the current time?

but there seems to be a great interest for this, and even if it takes a little while to seek through each movie to create a random thumbnail, wouldn't that be a problem each user would deal with ?
when i select 'scan' on a new folder for imdb lookup, it takes a while. if the create thumbnail function was recursive, i could click scan on my tv shows folder, have dinner, and enjoy thumbnails when i return.

mplayer can be used to create thumbnails from video clips. i believe the syntax is
mplayer -ss -vo jpeg
fetching album art from imdb works great for movies, but as we all know the tv shows suffer from this functionality. i'd like to see a button in the my videos section called "make thumbs" which uses mplayer to create thumbnails of all files in the current directory.
it should be easy to create a python script for doing so, but having it as a built-in xbmc feature would be awesome.
what do you guys think ?
