I went to book my monthly YYZ<->PHX trip on AA.com and noticed that AA is no longer flying ANY 757's between ORD and PHX. Typically they have flown atleast one in the months gone bye (both pre and post 9/11). I've always found these flights to be extremely full.
It seems they're now only flying MD80's between them, I can't think of any rhyme or reason for the change, I would think demand for PHX would be much higher in the winter months. If Kerry wins - Page 2 - ADVrider:: Sherco huh wheres them made, Taiwan? OK, thats it. Can anyone shed any light? I've seen them dissapear and re-appear on routes in the past, should I hold my breath? flying first or second week in jan.
Just checking the AA site for flights to PHX from ORD in late may and the 757's still have not reappeared. Don't much care for the md-80's on that flight and loved the 57's. Anyone heard if they are even thinking of bringing these back?

Never put off till tomorrow the flight you can take today.
Just a wild guess...but one of the folks at AA cargo here in Austin told me that, during the winter months, AA sometimes likes to shuffle some 757s around and put them on routes, for example, to skiing destinations because of their larger cargo areas.
Like I said, just a guess, fwiw.
I know that, but the idea of flying to DFW in a md80 isn't really appealing either http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
They have been flying 1 757 to/from chicago daily since atleast may..I don't understand why they'd have it on the route in october but pull it for january, which is high season for phx. I know you guys all love your 1 tons, but. *DELETED* [Archive] - CK5 Forums:: My 1/2 ton stuff, huh? In over 2,000 posts, youve never even read my signature? That Suburbans owner sure was an ORD customer, too. http://coloradok5.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-28517.htmlHOME |
That might work I suppose..but on the flipside I'll bet there's a whole bunch of golf clubs headed to phx.. It's a mystery to me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Just an aside; many moons ago, AA flew 747 equipment on the ORD-PHX route. I used to sit on the roof to watch the arrival. It was always a spectacular sight to see the jet arrive from the east over Squaw Peak toward NW Phoenix and then slowly arc south near 35th Avenue and finally make another turn to the east near I-17 for a landing on RWY 08R.
Ahh, memories.
there are still 2 daily 75s to DFW. They may have bumped up the frequencies, and swapped smaller equipment until traffic builds. AFAIK, loads are starting to look up for Q1 and Q2. Slow growth to pre-911 should take place.
I wouldn't hold my breath http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I have been hoping that AA switch PHX-ORD to 738s. Even though it is probably a heavy vacation destination, it is also a decent business market with lots of high tech companies.
