In natural environment, rivers with flowing water are considered Yang, and mountains are considered Yin as they are still.
In a house, bedrooms and storeroom are considered Yin, and living room is considered Yang. A house should have balance of Yin and Yang areas.
If most areas of a house are exposed to too much sunlight, it will have too much Yang energy. Too much Yang energy will cause the people staying in the house to be mentally stressed and tensed.
However, if most areas of a house are dark, it will have too much Yin energy. Too Yin energy will cause the people in the house to be aloof, unsociable, quiet and self-centered. If a house is too Yin, it is also likely to attract spirits.
Hence, a house should always try to strive for a balance of Yin and Yang.
