Its just I know Ill be nervous on my wedding day and anxious and I think doing this alone might calm me down and help me just relax and enjoy it all, then go meet up with the bridesmaids. Is this awkward?
It's your day, do what you want. Just say you wanted it to be a surprise. Plus, the less stress, the better.
Congratulations!
I have been a Make-Up artist for years and I never do the Bride in the same room as the bridesmaids. Sometimes the mother of the bride is there but she is always alone until right before the ceremony photos. It's a time where she has a hair person, a make-up person and photographers all around her. There is no need to have any others. Plus when you get to see your girls/guys you are all put together, nerves aside and you are ready to enjoy yourself. Most of the time there is another artist or 2 who handle the bridesmaids. Or they do it themselves. This is your day never feel bad about what will make it perfect or make you feel the most comfortable. Nerves are normal so try to meet with your artist one or two times before the big day just so you will feel comfortable with them and they know what exactly they are doing on the big day. This will cut down on time and nerves for both of you. As an artist I can always feel when the bride is stressed. So I have found meeting with each other at least once makes the day go super smooth. Also make sure you get the lip liner, lipstick and gloss they use on you. You will need to touch up a ton that day due to kisses, toasts, food (girl make sure you eat) etc. Hope this helps. Not if you explain it to them, or you could just say you don't want them to see until the whole masterpiece is complete. They'll understand, besides, it's your day! Good luck!
My recommendtion is to experiment with different types of makeup and different products.
What works great for some may not compliment your facial tones.
Don't pay too much for your make up. Drug store stuff could be fine.
