| | I am a Chartered Accountant Living and practicing in India and am
looking for freelance, offshore accounting work. I have checked out
the site www.elance.com and it is exactly what I want except that
there are not too many projects being offered under the category -
Finance and Accounting (There were only 4 the last time I checked
yesterday). Are there any sites which serve as a meeting point between
those looking for and providing freelance accounting and finance
services?
I wonder how practical it is to sub-contract accounting work overseas?
I'm in the UK and I would be very hesitant.

I was thinking in terms of preparing periodical reports such as
quarterly and annual statements of accounts. Obviously I cannot meet
your needs for real time accounting information and processing. Such
matters as making petty cash payments, getting authorizations for
cheque payments, finding out the balance outstandings when you have to
make payments to a supplier for example will necessarily have to be
handled onsite at your end. But if you send me all the supportings and
records, say on a month to month basis, I can prepare the vouchers, do
the data entry and prepare the books of accounts, the trial balance
and balance sheet. I can also check your compliance with all relevant
statutes, such as the Companies Act, Income tax Act etc.
I have also had some experience in Internal Audit and I think it
should be feasible for me to do an audit of your accounts periodically
- there again you will have to send me your records.
