i am a us citizen interested in living in vancouver, bc and relocating
my company there. we manufcature and market rapid diagnostic tests
(like pregnancy tests you would find at a drug store) all over the
world with a large customer base in the united states. so given that,
1) what are canadian requirements for permanent residency status for
those who bring business and jobs to the country?
2) even with NAFTA, what tariff/duty or other export costs are there
in shipping from canada to the united states?
3) same question as above but applying to imports of raw material from
the united states.
4)what taxation differentials are there between the united states and canada?
5) any other considerations i should be aware of?
6) bottom line, is moving a business to canada from california a dumb idea?
i hope the value of this question is high enough as i need as much
information as possible.
Hi there,
As a BC resident myself, I see no reason why you would be obliged to
reincorporate in Canada. I have plenty of American friends who have
moved to BC from the US and run their companies from here.
Not that I don't think US businesses moving north would help the
Canadian economy. Our government is likely to take a similar view :) moving a california business to vancouver canada:: Nov 24, 2004 Subject: moving a california business to vancouver canada.
